Ghost Classic Saddles: The English-Style Line

The Ghost Classic or Ghost standard, with its classic look, is the most English style line of the entire Ghost range. Designed for those seeking a perfect balance between comfort, stability and and adaptability to the horse, it represents the ideal choice for daily use in the riding school, non-extreme equestrian tourism (like in the models Turin) and for flat work. The saddle Lipica is perfect for those practicing dressage, while the Italy is also suitable for small jumps.

Who is the Ghost Classic recommended for?

The Ghost Classic is the ideal choice if you are looking for a saddle with a traditional look, more generous flaps and a concealed pommel. Choose it if you are looking for:

  • a classic-style saddle, but with all the advantages of Ghost: a flexible structure and fully adjustable panels.
  • a riding saddle that is comfortable, stable and intuitive, helping you feel at ease from the very first ride;
  • maximum adaptability for different horses or changing riding needs, thanks to the modular structure and adjustable panels;
  • a seat that moves with your body without restricting it, while maintaining a natural feel and connection with your horse.

To choose the ideal configuration, it is important to assess the base (Flexx, Semi-FLEXX or Standard), the most suitable panels and check the combined horse–rider fit, including flap position. Discover our guide to fitting, balancing and adjusting a Ghost saddle.

How to choose your Ghost Classic model

The Ghost Classic models share the same construction philosophy and modular design as Ghost, but differ in the way they accommodate the rider: flap length and angle, shape and position of the leg blocks, freedom of the thigh and degree of seat support.

For this reason, choosing the right model starts primarily with your riding position: leg length, knee angle, usual stirrup length and the amount of support you prefer.

The configuration for the horse is then assessed through the base, panels and rigging system.

Short flap: Quevis, Quilty and Florac

Three compact interpretations, each offering a different balance between freedom and leg support.

Quevis Classic
The angled leg block accommodates a more flexed leg position and provides support for the thigh without restricting the rider’s position. It is worth considering if you ride with medium-to-short stirrups and prefer to feel some support at the front.

Quilty Classic
The more vertical leg block compared with the Quevis accommodates a more extended leg position. It is suitable for riders who prefer a straighter point of reference while retaining the compact feel of a short flap.

Florac Classic
This is the most unrestricted option in the group: the absence of a leg block gives the thigh greater freedom and allows the rider to find their natural position with fewer lateral restrictions.

In short: Quevis if you prefer angled support, Quilty if you prefer more vertical support, Florac if you want maximum freedom.

Versatile riding position: Ferrara, Torino and Italy

Three versatile models, each with different geometry beneath the rider’s leg.

Torino Classic
It is the ultimate General Purpose model in the Ghost Classic range: a versatile saddle designed for different activities while maintaining a balanced riding position and plenty of freedom to adjust stirrup length. It is the most versatile choice for riders who are not looking for a highly specialised saddle.

Italy Classic
It features an English-style GP configuration, characterised by a double flap and a more forward-cut geometry, making it particularly interesting for riders who, in addition to flatwork and trail riding, also want to tackle small jumps.

Ferrara Classic
This is a more compact all-purpose option, with a shorter flap and a leg block integrated beneath the flap, suitable for riders who prefer greater freedom through the lower leg.

In short: Torino if you are looking for the most versatile General Purpose Ghost Classic; Italy if you want an English-style double-flap configuration that also allows for small jumps; Ferrara if you prefer a shorter, more compact all-purpose configuration.

Long flap: Roma, Veneto and Lipica

Here, the main difference lies in how the flap and leg block accommodate the rider’s thigh.

Roma Classic
The long flap and more vertical leg block encourage a long, straight leg position.

Veneto Classic
It retains the long flap but features a more angled leg block than the Roma, providing a more forward point of reference for the thigh.

Lipica Classic
This is the most specialised configuration in the group for riders looking for the long, centred position typical of dressage, with adjustable supports that allow the rider to customise the leg position.

In short: Roma for a more vertical reference, Veneto for more angled support, Lipica for a configuration focused on a long, customisable leg position.

Close contact: Puro and Puro Plus

The Puro models reduce the amount of material between horse and rider, prioritising a particularly direct feeling of contact.

Puro Classic
This is the most minimalist and open version, designed for riders who want maximum freedom through the thigh and minimal lateral support.

Puro Plus Classic
It retains the close-contact configuration of the Puro while adding leg blocks to provide a more defined point of reference for the thigh.

In short: Puro for maximum freedom, Puro Plus if you want to maintain close contact while adding more support.

Iberian and Baroque riding position: Navarra, Aragona, Barocco and Trentino

These models introduce Iberian- or Baroque-inspired geometry and details, with different levels of rider support.

Navarra Classic
It features a particularly free Iberian-style thigh position, with no leg block in the traditional configuration. It is suitable for riders who want a secure seat without support that dictates the position of the leg.

Aragona Classic
It offers a more supportive and padded feel than the Navarra, for riders who prefer a greater sense of presence from the saddle around the seat.

Barocco Classic
It combines Baroque styling with a more composed and guided leg position, bringing its riding position closer to the Roma family.

Trentino Classic
It combines Iberian inspiration, a long flap and more substantial leg support, for riders who prefer a more supported and contained position.

In short: Navarra for greater freedom through the thigh, Aragona for a more supportive seat, Barocco for a Baroque-style configuration with a more composed leg, Trentino for a long flap and greater support.

What about the Tango Classic?

The Tango Classic follows a different philosophy from the other models in the collection: it belongs to the Cavallin construction family, with a structure designed to provide an even more minimalist experience and a closer connection with the horse.

For this reason, we do not compare it simply in terms of flap length or leg-block shape: the Tango should be considered as a construction alternative to the other Ghost Classic models, depending on the type of contact and structure you are looking for.

The model is only the first step

Choosing Quevis, Roma, Ferrara, Puro or another model is primarily about identifying the geometry best suited to the rider. It does not mean that a particular model will automatically suit every horse.

Fit depends on the saddle’s complete configuration: base, panels, rigging, balance and position on the horse’s back must all be assessed according to the individual horse and intended use.

If, instead, you are choosing your saddle primarily according to discipline, explore our dedicated collections for dressage, endurance, trail riding and general purpose riding, where the models are compared specifically according to the type of activity.

Why choose the Ghost Classic line

The Ghost Classic is designed to provide a supportive yet unrestricted seat. The twist is narrow, with a natural and stable riding position that is less contained than the narrower models in the Ghost E saddle range.

Choosing a Ghost Classic model with a Semi-FLEXX base gives you a saddle capable of adapting to the horse’s conformation, making it particularly suitable for more challenging backs or for riders who ride more than one horse. The adjustable panels provide optimal weight distribution, excellent spinal clearance and a high level of comfort, including during arena work.

The Classic is a truly versatile riding saddle: in addition to trail riding and everyday use, it is well suited to flatwork, dressage and also some general purpose work with the GP (General Purpose or All-Purpose) models.

Weighing approximately 4–4.5 kg, the Ghost Classic is considerably lighter than traditional trail saddles: an advantage for the horse and a convenience for the rider, making the saddle extremely easy to handle, carry and clean.

Ghost Classic design

The Classic line features a clean, minimalist design created to provide versatility and an appearance closer to a GP, dressage or traditional English riding style. It is not designed for one single discipline, but to adapt to different riding needs. Its main features include:

  • composite-material base: MicroPell, nylon/polyurethane, carbon fibre and steel reinforcements to provide lightness and strength;
  • adjustable panels, with the option to insert shims to optimise the fit on the horse’s back;
  • close-contact seat, typical of the Ghost range, for a more natural feel and closer connection with the horse;
  • standard flaps that encourage a natural leg position;
  • moderate knee blocks for supportive but non-restrictive positioning;
  • covered or concealed pommels, creating a cleaner, more traditional appearance.
  • Clean in design yet rich in comfort and practicality: discover all available models in the Ghost Classic line.
