Guide to Ghost Customizations: Colors, Materials, and Areas

How to customize your Ghost saddle? You can configure your saddle by choosing from over 800 combinations of materials (leather, nubuck, vegan synthetics) and colors, dividing the design into specific areas such as seat, panels, and shell.

The modularity of Ghost saddles is not just about technical fitting, but also extends to aesthetics. Thanks to high-quality materials, predominantly of Italian origin, every rider can create a unique piece that combines grip, durability, and style.

1. Materials: Technical Features and Benefits

Choosing the right material is essential not only for aesthetics but for the specific "feel" you desire in the saddle.

Natural Leather Materials

  • Oiled Nubuck: Our most popular material. It offers excellent grip and a classic "distressed" look. It is water-repellent, and minor scratches can be easily restored with specific oil or leather conditioner.
  • Julia Leather: The top of the range. Italian vegetable-tanned leather with a visible natural grain. It is premium, eco-sustainable, and highly durable over time.
  • Nappa: Soft and smooth to the touch, ideal for those seeking immediate comfort on the seat and knee blocks. It requires regular maintenance to retain its luster.
  • Suede: Provides extreme grip and softness. Ideal for riders who want to feel "glued" to the saddle, though it is more delicate compared to oiled nubuck.

2. Leather care (Nubuck, Nappa, Julia, Mastrotto)

Leather is a natural material that evolves. Horse sweat is acidic and can "cook" the fibers if not removed.

  • Nubuck (Oiled or Mastrotto): It is the material with the most grip. To clean it, use a damp cloth. To moisturize it, use only oils or balms specifically for suede/nubuck. Important: Do not use too much oil on the seat, as it may stain your pants and make the seat too slippery.
  • Julia Leather: Being a thick trekking leather, it requires more grease compared to thin nappa. If it feels stiff to the touch, it is a sign that the fibers are dying: apply a nourishing balm.
  • Drying: If the saddle gets wet, it must dry at room temperature. Never near stoves or radiators: excessive heat crystallizes the leather fibers, causing irreparable breakage.

2. The "Color Zones": Where you can customize

To facilitate configuration, the Ghost saddle is divided into color zones. Here’s how you can balance the colors:

  • Zone 1 (Base/Quarters): Usually, sturdy materials like Micropell or Nubuck are chosen.
  • Zone 2 (Seat and Supports): Here, gripping or soft materials (Suede, Lorica, or Nappa) are preferred.
  • Zone 3 (Details and Piping): You can add contrasting colors, colored piping, or special materials like Synthetic Python or Glitter inserts.

Expert Tip: If you choose natural colors (browns, cognac), we recommend ordering the saddle and accessories (stirrups, fenders, saddlebags) at the same time. Since they are natural materials, shades may vary slightly between different production batches.

3. Aesthetics and Special Finishes

For those who want to stand out, Ghost offers unique decorative options:

  • Contrast Stitching: Choose a colored thread to make the saddle lines pop.
  • Laser Design: It is possible to engrave custom logos or designs on the flaps or cantle.
  • Premium Inserts: Cantle binding covered with crystals, studs, or "Dragon Skin" effect leather.
  • Engraved Leather: Leather with floral prints or geometric patterns for a Western or Baroque look.
