Saddle Customization Guide:
Colors, Materials, and Zones

How to customize your saddle?

Thanks to the EquiSaddle online configurator, you can configure your saddle by choosing from over 800 combinations of materials (leather, nubuck, vegan synthetics, etc.) and colors, dividing the design into specific sections such as the seat, flaps, and cantle.

The modularity of Ghost and Purosangue saddles is not just about technical fitting, but extends to aesthetics. Thanks to top-quality materials, 100% of Italian origin, every rider can create a unique piece that combines grip, durability, and style.

The materials: technical characteristics and advantages

Choosing the right material is essential not only for aesthetics but also for the type of feeling you want on the saddle.

Natural Leather Materials

  • Oiled Nubuck: This is the most popular material. It offers excellent grip and a classic "lived-in" look. It is water-repellent, and minor scratches can be easily restored using specific oil or leather grease.
  • Mastrotto Nubuck: A premium leather that stands out for its incredibly soft touch and a natural, secure grip. It offers a more matte and contemporary look, ideal for those seeking maximum adherence without sacrificing softness.
  • Julia: The top of the line. Vegetable-tanned Italian leather with a visible natural grain. It is premium, eco-sustainable, and highly durable over time.
  • Nappa: Soft and smooth to the touch, ideal for those seeking immediate comfort on the seat and rolls. It requires regular maintenance to retain its shine.
  • Suede: Extremely grippy and soft. Ideal for riders who want to feel "glued" to the saddle, though it is more delicate compared to oiled Nubuck.

Vegan and synthetic materials

These are high-tech "cruelty-free" materials, composed of ultra-fine polyester fibers with a polyurethane (PU) coating. They are designed to mimic animal leather, but with remarkable practical advantages.

  • Lorica: as soft as suede but synthetic. Excellent for Ghost Soft versions, seats, and cushions. Very easy to clean.
  • Micronappa: this is the synthetic "premium" version, more elastic and with a grain closer to real leather. It offers a feel similar to natural nappa but with the benefits of synthetic durability. Micronappa is hypoallergenic. For riders with skin sensitivities, it is an excellent alternative to chrome-tanned leather. Furthermore, it is also an extremely easy-to-clean material, Easy Clean

Micronappa and Lorica are breathable yet water-repellent. This allows you to ride out in the rain without ruining the saddle, which is riskier with natural leather (especially Nubuck).

The color zones: where you can intervene

To facilitate configuration, the Ghost saddle is divided into color zones. Here’s how you can balance the colors:

  • Zone 1 (Base/Quarters): Usually, sturdy materials like Micropell or Nubuck are chosen.
  • Zone 2 (Seat and Supports): Here, gripping or soft materials (Suede, Lorica, or Nappa) are preferred.
  • Zone 3 (Details and Piping): You can add contrasting colors, colored piping, or special materials like Synthetic Python or Glitter inserts.

Expert Tip: If you choose natural colors (browns, cognac), we recommend ordering the saddle and accessories (stirrups, fenders, saddlebags) at the same time. Since they are natural materials, shades may vary slightly between different production batches.
